Be Still like a mountain, flow like a great river. Brilliant words from the great Lao Tzu but i dont get the true meaning.I think it says that the world always rotating and no one can stop it so just live with the moment on the when the earth rotate.

Im going to share my simple personal experience that i think it's suitable to Lao Tzu's quote.
When I was in high school,my attitude was the word that "Go with the flow".I just follow the lead of my friends and theres an even that make me convince that im doing the right thing. One day,I decided to go to a party near the beach but my friends dont want to join me because they said its too dangerous. So being a "Go with the flow" person,i decided to not to go on the party.Im a became a still while having my argue to myself if my decision was right, then on that night,a news have spread to the town that there's a multiple cases of gunshots in the party that i suppose to come.So my attitude on being flow like a great river save my life.
I thank my friends for reminding me.

In life,we need to follow sometimes the events on the world.Even we dont want it,we cant change it.

“Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river”
This quotation speaks the way of life of being a right individual. Is failure really a hindrance to success? Failure is usual to everyone. It is actually a part of imperfection of a being. It also makes us more determined to achieve our goals in life.
As I grieve my past experiences, I remember my course Statics of Rigid Bodies last term, handled by Engr. Furby Ramos of Civil Engineering Department. He teaches the course in a simpler way we can understand. But when he give us examinations, I always got a failing remarks even thou I studied my lessons every night before the exam. I’m already losing my hope to pass the course because I know that I will fail. But on the other side, I must not fail because many people especially my family are hoping that I can pass this course. So this expectation of them to me makes me strong and pushes me to continue what I’ve started.
Also the quotation, “GREAT CRISIS PRODUCE GREAT MEN AND GREAT DEEDS OF COURAGE.” By John F. Kennedy, inspires me not to quit on every crisis of my life because this crisis awakens the whole part of me.
As I finished the course, I luckily got a passing remarks and it serves me as a great achievement on my part.
Being good in academics doesn’t mean that they are the only ones who have the right to pass. But, even the determined individual can surpass the intellectual ones. And also chances are always in favour to those who persevere.

    My interpretation with the quote of Lao Tzu, "Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river" is for one to be still in conviction or belief, to be courageous in facing what is at hand, and to be great in what ever obstacle or circumstance that one must face;

If I were to reflect on my personal experience with the Quote of Lao Tzu, It would be this present time of my life. My conviction stands as the choices I make each and every day; the consequences of my actions either bad or good is like the great river that I face, deal, and flow with.

for me, the quote of Lao Tzu is indeed a humble way of life, living a life with direction, courage, heart, and determination.

Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river. Be still to have room for silence. Silence sinks in the thoughts that bother us. Silence allows us to dig within to see the answers in our questions. Like mountains, we should also be tough for whatever circumstance hits us. Flow, don’t reside on the past and never let your emotions run wild. Go, just stream with life rather than against it.

Being still, having peace of mind, standing tough and digging from within reminds me of my life being a human. Being sturdy is the only option I have for problems that hit me. For where I am right now, it really takes a lot of courage to stand still despite of the setbacks thrown to me. Sometimes in my life, I was able to comprehend all the thoughts I have in mind, and all the questions that has to be answered and finally decide to do the formula for how to enjoy now and experience the future.

After all the silence I’ve made to sink in the feelings I felt, the reactions I responded and the words I’ve shared in this essay, I can nevertheless reflect the grounds that my personality is as strong as mountains and flow like a great river.

Be still like a mountain and flow like a river. A quote from Lao Tzu that means you should be unmovable but at the same time should be flexible. Like a mountain, grand and unwavering. Flow like a river, continuous and never ending.

There was a time when I failed in all of my quizzes in one subject. At first I was depressed. But then I remembered that every mistake is a lesson. I failed that subject, but that didn't stop me from continuing my course.

In all of the things I do now, there were considerable amount of mistakes in my life. But in the end, I will still continue and stand in my decision.

Be Still Like a Mountain and Flow Like a River
Lao tzu‘s quote “be still like a mountain” suggests that we become strong and conquer every problem that we face. Everyone has its own problem and everyone is afraid of failing, if you become strong enough to face the problem then you have the courage to get up and live your life once again.

Flow like a river quote of lao tzu’s is telling us that our past is our experience and we should not look back to our past, we should be living in our present. Live our life to the fullest. We should keep moving forward to have a better future. all river flow to the sea so realize that there is something big waiting for you .

My Interpretation in "Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river" are when you made a decision and you are very decided in that decision. Stand for it like a mountain and never look back to regret it like a river that the water never flow in the same place again.

This is my personal experience for "Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river". two months ago me and my girlfriend have a plan to go in the Samar because she want me to meet her relatives there. And the day of our travel has come strong rain drops from the clouds. And i made a decision that we canceled our travel. And she getting angry to me because her relatives are waiting. But i never change my decision. After that she's not talking to me for 2 days. But I never regret it because i think this is for her safety.

My interpretation on the quote "Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river" is that you should stand strong and never give up, like a mountain, in whatever problems you encounter on the way and just keep going on like a great river that keeps on going forward and never backwards. Being brave at the right time is the main idea of this quote for me.
My personal experience for this is when I have a problem in my life, I never give up. I think of any possible solutions that I can think and if I don't get any solutions in that problem I don't give up and continue my life and try to tell myself that everything is going to be okay.

My own interpretation of the Lao Tzu's quotation is that we must be "still like a river" that we must to let our emotion to guide us in our decision making and don't let other easily influence or change what you believe in, "flow like a great river" means that we must not dwell in our past mistakes but we must learn from it and try never to the same mistake again in the present or in the future.

My personal experience of this is when i failed a subject before, it really is depressing but i know that there will nothing be changed if i keep on being sad and that i must try harder and pass the next time i take that subject again.

"Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river." We must be strong and ready to face the problems and trials life would give us. Stand with our principles and with the decisions we've made. But at the same time, we must also be able to adjust in the current situation. Consider different factors that could affect different people, different things.

Transferring college was always one of my downfall moments in life. At first, I thought I couldn't make it, I won't be happy, I won't be able to decide at all. Then I realized that only me can decide for myself, for the path I'm going to take, for the future I really wanted. Different college, different course, different culture, different people. I learned to adjust, to socialize, and be open for change, for new friends and new learnings.

My interpretation for the quote of Lao Tzu "be still like mountain and flow great river" is that it talks about our personality like being strong in every trials that may come and never give up. don't look back the past that many bad things that happen just remember that you learned from your mistakes and use that mistakes to be a better person in the future.

my personal experience for this quotation is when it was my first time to fail my subject I was so depress but later I realized that it is not the end of my dream to be an electronics engineer so I study hard to achieve my dream and I promised to my self that I will not have a failing grades.

“Be still like a mountain and flow like a river”. My understanding about this quote is be strong with your decisions and don't keep changing your mind just go to the flow. My personal experience of this is during my subject Higher Surveying last semester. I was not able to pass my midterm. I was so depressed and hopeless at that time because only one of my classmate pass the midterm but my friends and my parents told me that I should believed in myself and can make it. So I listened and followed to them that’s why I pass that subject.

"Be Still Like a Mountain and Flow Like a River." Well I think it is talking about your personality like be still and strong with your decisions and don't keep changing your mind but don't always be strict and go with the flow sometimes to.

I was once scolded by aunt, it humiliated me. I was really humiliated in front of my cousins because I somehow disobeyed her. But after that, she talked to me and explained why she did that. It made me realize I was wrong, and she made inspired by the thoughts she said. After that incident it made me grew strong in some ways.

My own interpretation to the quotation “Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river” is to be strong like mountain with any problems whether you think you can’t pass it and flow like a river means keep yourself moving forward. My experience in this quotation is when the first semester in this school year 2011-2012 I really get tired to my 2 subjects because from the first day of school until the end of midterm all of my quiz was failed that’s why I get a failing grade in the midterm grade in this two subjects. Because of this things happen I think to shift with other course, but my family ,friends and with the help of God I continue to be an engineering student and I study hard to pass the two subjects that I failed in midterm in that experience I think I stand like a mountain and I flow like a great river.

"Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river." I really don't understand the meaning of this quotation but I guess I can interpret it in my own way. Being still like a mountain suggest that being quiet or still will lead you to finding the answers to the questions you needed in order to succeed. You'll make room for the answers by being still. Flowing like a great river maybe referring on how you should live your life. Forget what happened on the past, stop daydreaming about your future. Live every moment of your life and just flow with it rather than against it. Let life happen and experience it happening instead of always waiting for the next moment to come.

Maybe this personal experience of mine will suit Lao Tzu's quotation. This happened last year, when I was about to transfer to other university. I was thinking what am I going to do and I found myself quietly sitting in our living room and asking myself "what happened to my life?" That time I realized that I am not serious in my studies when I was in Mapua. I can do better in Mapua but I prioritize my social life rather than studying at home. That mistake became a lesson to me that's why I'm doing all I can to be successful in my studies here in EAC. I think I'm a better person now and I'm flowing like a great river that no one can stop until I achieve all my goals in life.

The quote, as how I understand it, means that you should be still or you should find inner peace within you and just go with the flow. Do not dwell on the past and do not think too much about the future. The past has already happened and you do not have to worry much on what will happen on the future.

My personal experience is that I always remember the past. When a person has done something bad to me in the past, I never forget it. I am a person who holds grudges to one person. That was before, until there came a time that I am no longer happy. I always worry about the future, what will happen tomorrow, etc. I’ve came to realize that it will do no good to me so I changed.

I became an optimistic person, I forgive and forget and live life to the fullest. I also have this “me time”. You should really have this peace of mind all the time and worry about nothing, and just go with the flow.
